Claire Dale: Physical Intelligence Consultant
Claire Dale (preiously Claire Russ) is a trained movement practitioner and choreographer as well as a business consultant. She is a graduate of Laban, London and is recognised as an experienced facilitator and inspirer of large and small scale projects both in the arts and in business. Claire worked in British dance for 12 years from 1990 - 2002 as Artistic Director of her company the Claire Russ Ensemble, based in Birmingham at Midlands Arts Centre, and at The Place Theatre, London. She successfully led the company to critical acclaim in 1993, and toured throughout Britain and Europe. Claire has created works for Sir Paul McCartney, Alsop Architects, CandoCo Dance Company, Norfolk Dance Agency and L'oreal and has worked on many theatre productions.
Whilst being passionate about dance, Claire changed direction in 2002, to explore working with people in business. Companies in Motion was conceived in 2002 as a new offer to the training and consultancy industry. It was created from a hunch about the direction that learning and development would need to take in the next century to integrate physical and action based learning techniques in its programmes. Whilst working alongside some brilliant and knowledgeable consultants and theoreticians, the idea that all theoretical concepts could be explored through physical tasks became more and more apparent, hence Physical Intelligence.
Claire seeks new ways to present and apply movement and dance knowledge. Her training is in Contemporary Dance, Anatomical Release Technique, Yoga, Classical Ballet and an American dance form called Contact Improvisation. In addition she draws on knowledge of the Alexander Technique, Laban Movement Analysis and studies in Dance and Critical Analysis at MA level at Surrey University in Guildford. Claire is also an experiened 1:1 coach and works as a trainer and coach for RADA Enterprises (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts). .
